thmb_pages_01.jpgSharon has been teaching postnatal exercise courses since 1999. Initially setting up and delivering programmes for Westcroft Sports Centre in Wallington over an eight year period.

Sharon created and presented The Pregnancy and Postnatal Workout DVD in 2004 and it was voted Best Buy by readers of "Mother and Baby and Pregnancy and Birth" Magazines.

Sharon says "I have been an athlete all my life. Starting with my gymnastics career as a small child to age 16 and to my last marathon in 2010. I am 50 yrs young and feel that exercise re-energises, strengthens and motivates you in life. I have two daughters aged 13 and 18. I have been a fitness instructor since 1990. I did my Exercise to Music in 1995 and advanced pre and postnatal in 1999. I also specialise with children - see Fit Clubs for Schools. I have also joined the Zumba mania (2011) as it is the new aerobics and it is getting people excited about exercising again.

With the help of The Pregnancy and Postnatal DVD in 2004 I have worked constantly as one of the most experienced postnatal specialists around.

I am still passionate about supporting new mums to recover from childbirth. Exercise releases the body's natural painkillers and just makes you feel better. When you have just had a baby it can be one of the most daunting times of your life. Exercise will help and of course as we all know Happy Mummy, Happy Baby, Happy everyone around you!"

"Although I work in schools and do lots of multigenerational work at the core for me is always postnatal. I work with the midwives and health visitors to promote the importance of postnatal recovery."

Fit Club Schools

Our Fit Club is a popular after-school club at local primary schools. The children are given varying pieces of equipment and use their imagination to interpret the music using them.

Fit Club is about getting kids moving. It is not sport specific and can be adapted for children as young as 6 yrs old.  We use imaginary games to warm up to or may do a zuma style routine or aerobic session. There is lots of opportunity to shake it all about and have masses of fun. Fit Club is totally non competitive and highly enjoyable.  The children can earn stickers for effort, trying hard and being helpful. It teaches the ethics of gamesmanship and gets them running about inside or out.

The children we are really targeting are the ones that do not like sport and exercise and may have a more sedentary lifestyle. Childhood obesity is an epidemic in this country so Fit Club is a much needed after school provision.

Sharon says "I started Fit Clubs for Schools in 1999 after a discussion with my child's Headteacher. It soon few into a very popular after school club. We were soon approached by other schools and eventually I had 8 different schools on board.

I also teach Fit and Active sessions in primary schools and cover PPA time and Health weeks etc."

Family Man Work

Children need positive male role models.  It's a fact that some children do not get to interact with men as often as they would like.  Bring a Family Man to School Day provides an opportunity for children to bring their family man to school with them for a day!.
